PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

Kelly Carmona CPA, LLC                                                           1982 – present

 

Scope:  Principal & Certified Public Accountant of CPA firm offering business, tax & IRS/State Audit representation for approximately 450 clients on the local, national & international levels. Management of 4 support staff.  Manage all operations including client management, marketing & firm outreach.

SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS Joined Brooks, Bass, Devaney, Kulsar & Leshner CPAs and subsequent firms in 1982.  Working ground level up in all levels of support positions from data entry clerk, junior accountant, staff accountant, Certified Public Accountant and Partner.  In 2004 sole practitioner upon retirement of final partner (and her father) Joseph G. Devaney.  Highlight experience in specialty industries such as entertainment, communications, restaurants, logistics, manufacturing and drug rehabilitation facilities.  Ongoing advisement local small businesses offering retail, wholesale, personal service & internet-based products & services.

Real House, Inc 2020 - present

 

Scope:  Chairperson of the Board.  Providing management advice & support to CEO, CFO, Executive Board of Directors and Financial Audit team for a New Jersey based drug rehabilitation organization.  Currently assisting with the expansion of their outpatient and sober living programs to include a new inpatient facility located in south Jersey.  Work with CEO and DMHAS (NJ Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services) to ensure the Organization meets State requirements of financial reporting and related matters. Prepare all levels of Income Tax returns.

SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS Provided management, tax & accounting and IRS representation services for the Organization since it’s inception in 2004 with only one, single outpatient facility. Offered advisement on growth & management of multiple facilities offering outpatient drug rehabilitation services, battered women’s support shelters, drug court, and Veteran services located in multiple cities & towns across the State of New Jersey.
 

New Jersey Martial Arts Academy ROX, LLC 2003 - present

Scope:  Co-owner, CFO & Business Manager.  Providing all aspects of support for our family-owned martial arts business.  Oversee our virtual support team and assist with management & business advice in a supporting role for Marvin Carmona, Chief Instructor.  Proudly celebrating 36 years of offering martial arts/fitness instruction at two facilities; Randolph, NJ and Landing/Roxbury, NJ.

SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS Facilitated growth & expansion of organization from a single leased location to purchase/ownership of a flagship Headquarters facility and subsequent expansion to Randolph, NJ.  Increased student body from 160 students to over 300 students.  Currently hold the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate & support development and implementation of curriculum.

County College of Morris         Approx 2000 - 2004

 

Scope:  Business Department Advisory Board.  One of five laypeople on a team of Deans and Department Chair people from colleges & universities working as a brain-trust; advising the County College of Morris Business Department on the vision for the business department and the related supporting infrastructure. Excited to support future projects including the expansion of the Entrepreneurship program and integration of cutting edge technology as it relates to today's business student.  

 

Scope:  Adjunct Professor.  Initial role included tutoring/instructing students over 2 semesters thru CASE/Horizons department.  Recruited to teach continuing education to existing full time business department teaching staff on the use and implementation of Quickbooks Desktop as an instructional tool within the classroom.  Invited to become an Adjunct Professor in the classroom, teaching both day and evening courses in the subjects of Intro to Business, Accounting I & II, Tax I, and General Bookkeeping for Hotel/Restaurant Management.

SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS Proudly represented County College of Morris in continuing its mission by “providing exceptional instruction” to students of diversified backgrounds.  Share with the CCM Brain trust a 'boots on the ground' input as it relates to what businesses are doing/needing/seeing today.  Incorporated guest speakers into classroom instruction enhancing students in Accounting & Bookkeeping classes to hear first hand how knowing and understanding the numbers was critical to a successful business. Utilized all options of technology within the classroom. Created a competitive environment within (HRM) General Bookkeeping class, pitting “Jets against Giants” concession stands to make learning and internalizing accounting process as instrumental to a restaurant manager’s success.  Provide professors with additional training/support for Quickbooks in the classroom

 

Early Career

 

1986 - Custom Living Homes & Communities:  Purchasing Estimator reading blueprints and calculating raw material needs like board feet of lumber, subcontractor scheduling, and related project cost accounting estimates.  Lateral move to accounting department and put in charge of 56 Limited Partnership ‘due-to-from’ transactions to assure funding for projects nationwide.  Represented the parent company at the NJ Builder and Industry Association conference in Orlando, Florida.

 

1982 – County of Morris: Dispatcher Communications Center for various police/fire/EMS, Sheriff & Morris County Prosecutors office.
